The following are symptoms of Clinical Depression or Major Depressive Disorder: low energy, depressed mood, feeling worthless, difficulty concentrating, inability to enjoy pleasurable activities, moving slowly or excessively, sleep disturbance, appetite changes, and thoughts about dying or suicide (DSM 5, 2013). An individual with depression usually experiences five or more of these symptoms, in addition to other criteria, before receiving a diagnosis.
