What to Expect in Your Therapy Session
FIND YOUR HAPPY
Depending on where you receive counseling, the first session is called an intake or clinical/diagnostic interview. This is broken down into two parts: Introduction and Clinical Assessment.
Therapy sessions will target the purpose of your visit which includes problem areas, goals, and solutions. It might take a few sessions before you become comfortable enough to be open and share personal details; however, I will help you through the journey.
The initial session is an opportunity to get acquainted and to know each other better. It takes time to build trust and develop a connection, so it is important to be patient with yourself and the counselor.
2. Establishing Needs
The need for counseling will be established during the clinical assessment. I will ask you several questions in order to gather comprehensive information that includes your current functioning, present/past problems, family history, and social factors. Learn More >
Individual counseling is an opportunity for you to focus on yourself. Happiness and peace of mind are common goals for people. However, there are times when situations and choices interfere with these goals. If you are unsure of how to navigate around obstacles, allow me to assist you in discovering happiness and peace of mind.
"Find Your Happy"
Family is important and the essential core of most of our lives. However, there are times when problems occur and are not handled properly which in turn lead to a deterioration of relationships. Frequent fights, side-choosing, and avoiding contact with family members are typical outcomes of unresolved problems. Consider getting help to learn how to resolve family drama.
FIND YOUR HAPPY
Services at ICC are personalized because I work with each person to discover his or her own unique needs and concerns. Through our work together, we will explore past and present issues in an effort to improve insight and self-awareness. I utilize several treatment approaches, but Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the one that I primarily use. Also, I utilize an approach called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy to treat trauma and negative experiences. It is evidenced-based which means that it has been well-researched and clinically proven to work.
